Killing fields and S21

I bumped into Henry and John again in my guest and were were both going to go to Phnom Penh, so we decided to just go together.
The bus ride took a few extra hours because of the flooding. In some places, it looked like people had to actually swim to get to their houses.
Since it was the last day of the holiday, there were parades and stuff in practically every town. One place had a bunch of guys in monkey masks who were just chasing the bus and grinning their monkey faces in the window.
Henry and John only wanted to stay one night in Phnom Penh, but I wanted to get my visa for Vietnam sorted out, so I decided to stay on, but we went to the killing fields together before they left. It was a field where the Khmer Rouge would take people to kill them. The whole thing was pretty horrific, but the one thing that stuck out to me the most was a tree. The tree was standing in the middle of the fields and looked like any other tree, but when you looked closer, you saw a plaque on the tree. The plaque told that there used to be a speaker on the tree and the Khmer Rouge used to play loud music over it to attempt to drown the noises of the people being beaten.
Henry and John left the next day, so I found a German girl (from Oldenburg!)  to go to the S21 museum with.
The museum was even more horrific then the actual killing fields. Before it was used for a prison, it was a school, so all of the guy equipment and so on was somehow used to torture the prisoners.
I spent the next days waiting for my visa and hanging out with Julia in Phnom Phen. She was also very careful with her money, going to the grocery store instead of out to eat and walking to save a few bucks, so we got along quite well.
